We immerse ourselves in the purest essence of Lithuania, combining adventure, nature, and tradition. We'll sail down the Nevėžis River , trek through lush forests, and sleep under gray skies, but we'll also explore the living history of the Baltai people, their ancient beliefs, and their connection to the land. This trip is not just an expedition, but an immersion in ancient culture in the heart of Europe.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Kaunas and the legacy of the Baltai
We land in Kaunas and take the first step in our cultural immersion with a visit to the Lithuanian Open-Air Ethnographic Museum , where we'll tour ancient Baltai villages, discovering their architecture, way of life, and connection with nature. We'll explore the influence of Romuva , the Lithuanian paganism that still endures, learning about their rituals and spiritual worldview. In the afternoon, we head to our first rural house, where we'll enjoy a traditional dinner.Day 2 – Canoeing down the Nevėžis River and overnight on the riverbank
We take our canoes and drift along the Nevėžis River, crossing a landscape of green plains and ancient forests. In the mid-afternoon, we stop to rest and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. We end the day with an al fresco dinner and an overnight bivouac by the river.Day 3 – Deep forests and rural culture
We'll delve into the dense Lithuanian forests, following ancient trails used by the Baltic peoples. We'll learn about the local flora and fauna, the legends of sacred groves, and ancient Viking trade routes. We'll spend the night in a cozy rural cottage.Day 4 – Life in the wild: shelters and fire
A day dedicated to essential skills of the natural world. We'll learn to light fires using ancient techniques, build simple shelters with forest materials, and live in harmony with nature, as the ancient Baltai did. We'll sleep in a bivouac under the stars.Day 5 – Hidden Lakes
After busy days, we headed to an area of crystal-clear lakes to relax and enjoy the silence of nature. We explored life around the lakes and, as evening fell, returned to a rural house for a home-cooked farewell dinner.Day 6 – Vilnius and the last contact with Lithuania's living history
We bid farewell to nature to immerse ourselves in the history of Vilnius , the Lithuanian capital. We stroll through its Old Town, visit its viewpoints, and discover the vestiges of the past that still linger in the city.Day 7 – Time Travel
Transfer to Kaunas Airport and end of the trip. We'll take with us the essence of a town that still stands the test of time and a renewed connection with nature.An expedition for those seeking adventure, history, and a deep connection to the land. Ready to explore the roots of the heart of Europe?
